The team consists of Ajeet Rai, Finn Reynolds, Jack Loutit, Isaac Becroft and Watt. Rai is likely to be the top singls player with a ranking of 505 while doubles specialist Reynolds, currently ranked at an impressive 121 is named for the sixth time, alongside Jack Loutit who has proved to be a strong competitor against higher ranked opponents. Now it’s my time, it’s a pretty cool feeling.” Watt has shot up the rankings in both singles and doubles over the last few months, creating a successful pairing on the ATP Challenger Tour with fellow Davis Cup team member Reynolds. Since they began playing together in March, Wattt has climbed an impressive 184 places in the world rankings, and is now ranked 134. Watt has also moved up to an ATP singles ranking of 590 after qualifying and reaching the quarterfinals of the Newport Challenger and also qualifying at three other recent Challengers. The World Group II clash will take place on 13-14 September, and will mark the second time in a row Fly Palmy Arena will host the World Cup of Tennis, following a sellout weekend last year where New Zealand suffered a narrow defeat to Luxembourg. New Zealand’s non-playing Davis Cup captain Artem Sitak will lead the squad once again, having made his captaincy debut last year in Palmerston North. Sitak brings years of international experience and a deep connection to the Davis Cup environment as a former player. “We’ve got unfinished business in Palmy. Last year the atmosphere was incredible, and we were so close, but this year I know we’ll give even more and get the right result for the Manawatū fans,” said Sitak. Brockington joins the Breakers guard-line that includes returning import point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Tall Blacks Izayah Le'afa, Taylor Britt and Reuben Te Rangi, plus development players Kaia Isaac and Alex McNaught. Brockington, out of Philadelphia, appeared in one NBA game for the New Orleans Pelicans on March 5, 2024, scoring four points. Boucher and Breakers head coach Petteri Koponen scouted Brockington during the recent NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where he suited up for the Los Angeles Clippers. The 26-year-old has played the last two seasons in the G-League for the Birmingham Squadron and San Diego Clippers, the Pelicans and Clippers affiliates. Brockington spent four seasons in NCAA Division I, with St Bonaventure, Penn State and Iowa State, culminating with averaging 16.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 45 percent FG, 36 percent 3pt in 35 games for the Cyclones. Most-recently, he put up 10.6 points, 3.3 boards and 2.9 assists a game in eight games for the Vancouver Bandits in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. "Izaiah Brockington has impressed us with his maturity and integrity, and he will fit in well with our impressive 'Kiwi core' crew, alongside Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Karim López,” said Breakers chairman Marc Mitchell. The Breakers have one spot left on their roster, likely to be filled by an import big man.

The 53-year-old Kiwi completed the tournament at 10-under alone in seventh, six shots behind the winner, Irishman Padraig Harrington. Charlie Dunn and Indigo Kirk, both 18, will further their careers at NCAA schools - Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Division I for Dunn and Wilmington University in Division II for Kirk. She has played in various teams, including junior grades, academy, Girls National Youth League squads, and recently graduated into competitive women’s development and Women’s Premier teams. Kirk contributed to key moments this season, including scoring the winner in a cross-town clash against Eastern Suburbs in the NRFL Women’s Premier, that also won NRFL Goal of the Week. Additionally, she regularly led coaching sessions for Academy players, school holiday football and various programmes over the years. Women's Premier captain Tiana Hill has seen Kirk's development at Springs first hand. “We have seen Indi take her game to new heights in the last 12 months. She consistently puts in bold and impactful performances. Indi is a vibrant core of our Springs whanau who will be deeply missed. Dunn recently earned recognition on the world stage, representing New Zealand at the FIFA Women's Under-17 World Cup in 2024. She has also given back to the club in many ways, including coaching in the Academy, Fantails, holiday programmes and skill centres, as well as four years helping various community and social teams. Dunn has had a positive impact on so many others around the club and she will be missed by everyone she has played, coached and worked alongside. “It has been inspirational watching Charli grow in confidence, composure and leadership in the prems space over the last few years. She is a player who you can trust to have your back on and off the field. Charli is an incredibly talented player with a bright future ahead. We will miss her beyond words but wish her nothing but the best for this new adventure," said HIll.

Lawson started and finished eighth at the Belgian Grand Prix at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday (Monday NZ Time), collecting four points to move ahead of Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz Jr. LATEST HEADLINES: Phoenix reach last 16 of Australia Cup Tactix claim maiden Premiership title Lawson in top-10 on Belgian GP grid Black Ferns XV defeat South Africa Henry bowls Black Caps to final win Heavy rain ahead of the 44-lap race delayed proceedings by almost 80 minutes but once racing got underway on Lap 5, the crucial moment came immediately as Oscar Piastri got a better run on his McLaren teammate and polesitter Lando Norris. Australian Piastri ran away with the race, while Lawson maintained eighth throughout in a stretched-out field. "Feeling very happy," Lawson said. "Happy for the team. They've done a very good job all weekend, the car's been very strong and in both conditions today, the car was very good as well. "Good call on the box to come out on slicks and then from there, it was strong all the way til the end. We've got one more (grand prix) before the break, so let's try to finish this part of the season with a good one." Lawson's other results in the last six F1 grands prix have been 11th at the Spanish Grand Prix and retirements at the Canadian and British Grands Prix. The 23-year-old now sits 14th with 16 points, six fewer than Racing Bulls teammate Isack Hadjar, who finished 20th at Spa, but six more than Yuki Tsunoda, who controversially replaced Lawson at Red Bull after just two races. Formula 1 now heads to Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring circuit next weekend, where Lawson has never competed.
