The NZ Breakers have added dynamic and experienced American guard Izaiah Brockington to their roster.

Brockington, a 6-foot-4 combo guard, brings a proven track record of strong offensive and two-way play at both the NCAA and professional levels.

"We are incredibly excited to have Izaiah join the NZ Breakers," said president of basketball operations Dillon Boucher. “His skill-set, athleticism, and versatility will be a huge asset to our team.

“We believe he will make a significant dynamic impact on both ends of the floor, providing a crucial piece for the team."

Brockington joins the Breakers guard-line that includes returning import point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Tall Blacks Izayah Le'afa, Taylor Britt and Reuben Te Rangi, plus development players Kaia Isaac and Alex McNaught.

Brockington, out of Philadelphia, appeared in one NBA game for the New Orleans Pelicans on March 5, 2024, scoring four points.

Boucher and Breakers head coach Petteri Koponen scouted Brockington during the recent NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where he suited up for the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 26-year-old has played the last two seasons in the G-League for the Birmingham Squadron and San Diego Clippers, the Pelicans and Clippers affiliates.

Brockington spent four seasons in NCAA Division I, with St Bonaventure, Penn State and Iowa State, culminating with averaging 16.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 45 percent FG, 36 percent 3pt in 35 games for the Cyclones.

Most-recently, he put up 10.6 points, 3.3 boards and 2.9 assists a game in eight games for the Vancouver Bandits in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

"Izaiah Brockington has impressed us with his maturity and integrity, and he will fit in well with our impressive 'Kiwi core' crew, alongside Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Karim López,” said Breakers chairman Marc Mitchell.

The Breakers have one spot left on their roster, likely to be filled by an import big man.
