Walsh misses medal, Hobbs, Beamish qualify

New Zealand thrower Tom Walsh has finished fourth in the shot put at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
He missed bronze by one centimetre after a season's best 21.94 metres.

The event was won by American legend Ryan Crouser for the third time.
Mexico's Uzile Munoz was second Italian Leonard Fabbri third, but only after he had the same distance as Walsh, but won on a superior second throw countback measurement.
Sprinter Zoe Hobbs was second in the opening heat of the women’s 100m in 11.16 seconds to move into Sunday’s semifinals.
The race was won by United States runner Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in 10.99 seconds.
And Kiwi 3000m steeplechaser George Beamish, 28 was also second in the second of three heats to comfortably progress to the final.
That's despite Beamish taking a tumbling and another runners spikes to the face in the heat as he got back up and finished strong.
Beamish had a time of 8 minutes 27.23 seconds just behind Morocco’s Salaheddine Ben Yazide (8:27.21) to qualify third overall for Monday’s final.
