Shepp moves up rankings after Singapore final

New Zealand tennis player Anton Shepp has narrowly missed adding another ITF World Tennis Tour Futures title to his growing list of achievements.


Shepp was beaten in the final of the US$15K Futures in Singapore by American qualifier Tristan Stringer 6-7(1), 6-2, 3-6 in two hours 15 minutes.

The majority of the stats for the match were similar for both players with two service breaks each while Shepp won 88 points overall to his opponents 86.


However the New Zealanders first service percentage was at 53.9 percent overall despite serving more aces, but also more double faults.


Reaching the final looks set to take Shepp to another new ranking high of 576 up from around 900 at the beginning of the year.


The 23-year-old from the Waikato will now play the larger events in Thailand at Nakhon Pathom


Shepp has three singles titles to his credit numerous doubles titles with a ranking of 459
