There will be a trio of New Zealand golfers at the 2026 British Open Championship after Kazuma Kovori qualified for the tournament. .


He joins Ryan Fox and Daniel Hillier in the field at Royal Birkdale in his third major appearance after missing cuts at the PGA Championship and The Open in 2024.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Ranked No 207 he tied for second after two rounds at the West Lancashire qualifying event, helped by a seven-under 65 in the second round.


Kobori finished at nine-under, to claim one of the five spots at the Open which will be held July 16-19.


Masters winners Sergio Garcia and Danny Willett both failed to qualify.


Kobori finsihed top-20 at the Italian Open in his last tournament and will play the BMW International Open in Munich where he finished third last year.


Twenty-four-year-old Kobori has had best results on the DP World Tour of tied sixth at the Catalunya Open and tied ninth at the Qatar Masters in 2026
