Carrington in NZ Canoe Sprint World Cup team

Canoe Racing New Zealand has named Dame Lisa Carrington in the Canoe Sprint Team for the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cups in Szeged, Hungary and Brandenburg, Germany.
Carrington, 36 recently announced her pregnancy, stating she would still be competing at the top level including LA 28.

Not selected are Alicia Hoskin and Tara Vaughan, who were part of the gold medal winning K4 crew in Paris in 2024. Hoskin also won gold with Carrington in the K2 event.
Hoskin has been recovering from surgery after suffering from a rare condition that restricted blood flow to her arm.
Lucy Matehaere, who was a member of last year's squad, had been selected, while Greer Morley is a newcomer to the women's elite squad.
Former world champion Aimee Fisher has been named in the team while the experienced Kurtis Imrie is in the men's squad.
The team are departing for Europe for training before two consecutive weekends of ICF World Cup events – the Szeged Canoe Sprint World Cup on 8-10 May followed by the Brandenburg Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Cup on 14-17 May.
These ICF World Cup events begin the new two year Olympic & Paralympic ICF qualification process for LA 2028, with qualification points on offer at major competitions for the new Olympic Ranking System which will determine quota spots available to nations.
