Lisa Carrington has come close, but missed out on a medal at the ICF canoe sprint world championships in Milan


The eight-time Olympic gold medallist placed fourth in the K2-500 final with Alicia Hoskin, to go with a fourth in the K4 500m discipline with Alicia Hoskin, Tara Vaughan and Lucy Matehaere over the weekend.

Carrington, 36 was a late call-up for the event as an injury replacement for Olivia Brett.


New Zealand collected one medal at the championships - Aimee Fisher's bronze in the non-Olympic K1-1000 metre discipline.


Earlier Fisher was fourth in the women's K1 500m while four other New Zealand crews were fourth at the regatta.
