Sun sets in semis, Reynolds, Watt in final

The run of Lulu Sun has come to an end at the Jinan WTA 125 tournament in China, beaten in three sets in the semifinal.


Sun was unable to convert two second-set match points as she lost 4-6 7-6(7) 6-4 to 98th ranked Janice Tjen from Indonesia.

The match lasted two-hours, 17 minutes and was moved to an indoor court, because of inclement weather.


Meanwhile at Shenzhen at the ATP Challenger tournament the Kiwi doubles team of Finn Reynolds and and James Watt are through to their ninth final of the year at Challenger level.


They beat Taipei's Huang Tsung-hao and Sun Fa-jing from China 6-3 7-6(4) in the semifinals and will face top seeds Nathaniel Lammons from the United States and Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer for the title.


Reynolds and Watt have already won five of ttheir eight finals this year and have current ATP Live doubles rankings of 92 and 95 respectively.
