Reynolds, Watt join Routliffe, Venus at French Open

Good news for New Zealand's doubles players at the 2026 French Open in Paris with three different pairs featuring Kiwi professionals.


Finn Reynolds and James Watt have made the men's doubles draw, their first Grand Slam appearance. Initially they were four places outside the draw with their rankings of 85 for Reynolds and 86 for Watt.

However they're now in the draw and will face the Czech pair of Adam Pavlasek ranked 47th and Parik Rikl 49th in the first round.


Aside from prize money potential ranking points plus confidence in play could make a huge difference to the careers of Reynolds and Watt.


Already through to the second round of the doubles are Michael Venus and Indian Yuki Bhambri after they defeated Francisco Cerundolo and Mariano Kestelboim 7-5, 6-2.


In the women's doubles the fifth seeded team of Kiwi Erin Routliffe and Latvian Jelena Ostapenka beat the French wildcard team of Ksenia Efremova and Eleejah Inisan 3-6, 6-1, 6-2
