The New Zealand doubles pair of Finn Reynolds and James Watt have reached their first career semifinal of an ATP tournament.


The Kiwi duo defeated the alternate pair of Jaime Faria and Henrique Rocha both from Portugal in the quarterfinals of the Chile Open in Santiago 6-4, 6-7 (5), [10-7] in one hour 36 minutes.

As per the score there was nothing in the match with the New Zealanders having a slight advantage on their serves with no breaks against them, while they coverted one of their three break points in the match.


Overall they won 53 points to 47 to take the victory which now has them up against the pair of Ariel Behar from Uruguay and Australian Matthew Romos for a spot in the final.


Reynolds and Watt are expected to see their rankings improved to 83 and 84 respectively for making the semifinals


Previously Reynolds and Watt had passed the first round at the ASB Classic and Buenos Aires ATP events.
