Venus, Routliffe ready for French Open doubles

A three set loss in the doubles final of the Geneva ATP tennis event for New Zealand's Michael Venus and his Indian partner leading into the French Open this week.


Venus and Yuki Bhambri lost 6-3, 6-7(2), 7-10 to the team of Ramain Arneodo (Monaco) and Australian Marc Polmansin the title decider.

It was the first ATP final for Venus since major elbow surgery last year.HIs ranking is likely to improve to 48 on the ATP doubles rankings.


Venus, the 2017 doubles champion and Bhambri will face an Argentine pair of Francisco Cerundolo and Mariano Kestelboim in Paris.


The Kiwi team of Finn Reynolds and James Watt look to be three places outside of making the initial main draw.


In the women's doubles Erin Routliffe teams up with Latvian Jelena Ostapenko as the fifth seeds. They will play a French wildcard duo in the first round..
