Lulu Sun qualifies Miami Open main draw

New Zealand tennis player Lulu Sun has had a satisfying second round qualifying win at the Miami Open WTA 1000.
Sun defeated former top 20 ranked Donna Vekic from Croatia 6-3 6-3 to seal her place in the main draw.

The previous day Sun beat Uzbek Maria Timofeeva in straight sets.
She will now play fellow left-hander and American wildcard Taylor Townsend who is ranked 80th in the first round.
The Miami wins are the third and fourth victories of the year for Sun in an otherwise difficult season so far with injury and a struggle to gain consistent results.
The 24-year-old ranked 111 took one hour 11 minutes for the win putting in a solid serving performances with nine aces and five double faults compared to her opponents eight doubles.
Sun won 67.9 percent of her first serves and then broke her opponents serve five times out of her nine opportunities.
