Sun wins in Indian Wells qualifying

New Zealand's Lulu Sun has had a rare victory in 2026, winning her first round qualifying match at Indian Wells.
Sun, ranked 100th, beat Australian Maddison Inglis 7-5 6-3 in one hour 27 minutes to advance to the second round, where she will play Frenchwoman Diane Parry, who is currently No 111.

If Sun, 24, beats Parry she will gain a place in the women's singles main draw of the prestigious tournament.

Meanwhile, the Kiwi doubles pair of Anton Shepp and Isaac Becroft won the doubles title M15 at Monastir, Tunisia.
Becroft and Shepp defeated Ireland's Conor Gannon and South African Thando Longwe-Smit 6-7(3) 6-4, 10-7 for the title.
