A blow to the ASB Classic as New Zealand tennis player Lulu Sun has officially withdrawn from the 2026 event
Twent-four-year-old Sun cited a wrist injury for her absence which had originally come as a result of a neck injiury in Guangzhou last year.

Ranked 90 in the world Sun said the lack of practice has hampered her tournament preparation.
"Not being able to have a proper pre season and being injured, left me no choice but to sadly withdraw"
She said she hopes to be ready for the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open in two weeks.
Top seeds for the tournament are Ukraine's Elina Svitolina at No 14 and 15th ranked Emma Navarro from the United States.
