Lulu Sun upsets top seed at Texas WTA event

It's been a difficult 2026 for New Zealand tennis player Lulu Sun struggling to put together consecutive victories this year.
However she has started with a strong win in the opening round of the WTA US$125k event in Austin Texas.

Ranked 100 in the world , Lulu Sun defeated top seed, world No 25 Emma Navarro 6-4, 6-4 in one hour 26 minutes in tricket conditions with the wind and later rain. .
Sun told the crowd she was happy to get a win in Austin, a place filled with good memories. A former University of Texas Longhorn, she helped clinch the team’s national title in 2021.
Her second round match is against another former top-10 player Paula Badosa.
