Near misses for two of New Zealand's best golfers in the Middle East and United States as Daniel Hillier and Lydia Ko finish fourth in their respective events.


Hillier maintained his impressive form on the DP World Tour finishing in a tie for fourth with Sergio Garcia at Royal Golf Club, Bahrain..

Last month Hillier pocketed around finished second at the Dubai Invitational in the United Arab Emirates. It was his fourth top-six result from his last five tournaments.


Germany’s Freddy Schott won his first DP World Tour title after beating Calum Hill (Scotland) and Patrick Reed (United States) in a play-off in Bahrain.


Meanwhile Ko missed chance to play for another LPGA Tour victory as the final round of the season-openerTournament of Champions in Orlando was cancelled due to freezing conditions.


Ko was leading after two rounds before being overhauled by Nelly Korda. had dropped off the pace in the LPGA Tour’s season opening event, after weather interrupted her third round.


When foul weather in Orlando suspended play on Sunday, the Kiwi was even par through 15 holes, having mixed three birdies with a bogey and a double-bogey.


She returned on Monday (NZT) to complete her round dropping two shots, carding a two-over 74 that left her in fourth place after 54 holes.


Tournament officials then cancelled the final round due to freezing temperatures in Orlando, Florida, leaving American leader Korda as the champion at 13-under. Ko was fourth at six-under.
