The Black Ferns have taken the outright lead in the World Sevens Series after winning the Singapore tournament title


The New Zealand side were dominant throughout beating arch rivals Australia 36-7 in the final after earlier defeating the United States 44-7 in the semifinals..


LATEST HEADLINES:


The Black Ferns and Australia had met in the previous two finals this season sharing the results; New Zealand winning in Dubai and Australia in Cape Town.


Jazmin Felix-Hotham and Jorja Miller scored two tries each in the final with Mahina Paul and Katelyn Vahaakolo also crossing.


Team vice captain Miller was named the player of the finalfor her efforts.


"I'm so stoked and proud of the girls. It's been an awesome atmosphere in a beautiful city," said Miller


New Zealand lead the championships with 58 points, while Australia are on56.


In the men's competition New Zealand lost 21-14 by Fiji in the semis but beat South Africa 14-12 in the play-off for third.


The next round is in Perth this week.
