Jacobs stars for Aces, Sparks make late run

The Auckland Aces continue to lead men's Super Smash after beating the Volts in Dunedin by five wickets after scoring 161-5 in reply to the home sides 159.
The win came courtesy of Bevon Jacobs hitting an unbeaten on 78 not out off 51 - his fifth straight half century in the Super Smash, equalling Devon Conway’s national record for most consecutive T20 half centuries.

A total of 224 of Jacobs’ 328 runs have come courtesy of the 23 fours and 22 sixes he’s socked.
In the match against the Volts it was Liew Johnson who showed some resistance with 63 runs in the middle order as Angus Oliver, Sid Dixit and Ryan Harrison took two wickets each to restrict the home side.
At bat it was Jacobs who dominated with Mark Chapman the other main contributor on 39.
In the women's match the Sparks had a four wicket win over the Hearts after scoring 169-6 in response to the visitors 168-5.
The Sparks are now third on the women's points table behind the Hearts and Blaze.
