White Ferns semis hopes fade due to rain

The White Ferns have had a blow to their chances of reaching the semfinals of the ICC Women's Cricket World after a washout against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
After opting to bat first the home side made 258-6, but that was as far as the game could progress.

Rain started to fall and didn't stop as match officials decided no more play was possible.
The New Zealand competed with the ball, but Sri Lanka managed to keep wickets in hand and were able to go on the attack in the last 10 overs when they scored 80 runs.
Captain Sophie Devine was the best of the bowlers taking 3-54 runs from her nine overs while Bree Illing had 2-39 from seven Rosemary Mair took the other.
"Sri Lanka batted well, they probably got a few more runs that we would have liked," Devine said afterwards.
"Shame the weather kept us off, we were excited for the chase.
"We will review half the game we played and come up with plans."
The Sri Lankan top order all got in the runs with Nilakshika Silva top scoring with an unbeaten 55.
The no result means both sides pick up a point which isn't the result the kiwi side needed.
New Zealand are now in fifth place on the table with three points, two losses, a win and a no result from their four games so far.
They play Pakistan in their next game in Colombo on Saturday and face India and favourites England.
