After the withdrawl of Lulu Sun the time spent on court by New Zealanders at the 2026 ASB Classic is under threat.


Erin Routliffe will play doubles with Asia Muhammad and will be a threat to the title.

However in singles Australian-based Kiwi Monique Barry has been given a wildcard and will face German Ella Seidel who is ranked 86 in the world.


The 23-year-old New Zealander who has a ranking of 664th lost in the second round of qualifying last year in Auckland. She usually plays ITF pro tournaments, particularly in Australia.


In qualifying Aishi Das, 18 competed well in her match but was defeated Slovenia's Veronika Erjavec ranked 105th in straigt sets 6-3, 6-4.


Fellow local player Elyse Tse lost to Belgian Sofia Costoulas ranked 163 by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
