Sky secures exclusive Olympic TV rights

Sky TV has secured exclusive New Zealand broadcast rights for the summer and winter Olympic Games through to 2032.
The undisclosed deal with the International Olympic Committee includes Milano Cortina 2026, Los Angeles 2028, French Alps 2030, and Brisbane 2032.

The agreement included broadcast rights across its Sky Sport, Sky Sport Now streaming platform, free-to-air channels Sky Open and Three, and on-demand platform ThreeNow.
Sky chief executive Sophie Moloney said the acquisition of Three and ThreeNow was a "game-changer" for the company.
"Our significantly strengthened free-to-air offering means we can reach more New Zealanders than ever before, across more platforms, with more choice - as well as creating more opportunities for our advertising clients to partner with us on these iconic events to connect with audiences at scale."
Moloney said Sky recorded strong viewership for Paris 2024, signalling the importance of the Olympics to New Zealanders.
"Sky is uniquely placed to deliver to fans across the country, with an unmatched combination of multiple live channels, curated digital experiences, and award-winning Olympics coverage."
Recently Sky TV lost out to TVNZ on the rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup creating renewed competition for broadcast rights in New Zealand for major sporting events.
