The All Whites fullback suffered the injury inside the first 15 minutes of the Phoenix’s home opener against Brisbane Roar at Sky Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Nix won the game 2-1 on a late goal and have one draw, one win so far in this season.

As well as ruling 31-year-old Payne out of the club’s upcoming A-League matches, the injury will remove him from consideration for the All Whites’ internationals against Colombia and Ecuador next month.

The club wishes Tim Payne all the best with his recovery and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible.

The Phoenix will play Central Coast Mariners in Gosford this Sunday before returning to Sky Stadium to host Auckland FC in the first New Zealand derby of the season on Saturday, November 8.
