South Africa have beaten the Black Caps 3-2 in the T20 series after a 33 run victory in Christchurch as the home side failed to put together partnerships.


The Proteas batted first and put together a solid batting display with a total of 187-4 as Connor Esterhuizen blasted 75 from 33 balls with six sixes and five fours. Wiaan Mulder made 31 and Rubin Hermann 39.

Zak Foulkes too 1-12 from his four overs and Ben Sears 2-37 from four as players struggled to take catches in the lights.


In reply New Zealand had plenty of starts by only Bevon Jacobs reached over 30 runs. eventually out for 36 from 19 with three sixes and a couple of fours.


Captain James Neesham tried hard by finished with 24 from 24 while up the order Tim Robinson scored 25 and Dane Cleaver 22 and Nick Kelly 14.


Katene Clarke opened but lasted four balls for his two runs in what was a very experimental batting lineup.


The lower order had Josh Clarkson make 13 and Cole McConchie one with Foulkes and Jamieson both not out four as New Zealand finished at 154-8


The Black Caps tour Bangladesh next month.
