The White Ferns have won the final T20 of the five game series against South Africa in Christchurch by 92 runs thanks to a century from captain Amelia Kerr.


Batting at number three Kerr scored of 105 off 55 balls including 19 fours and one six to help the White Ferns rebuild from the loss of early wickets for an eventual score of 194-6.

Only eight balls had been bowled and New Zealand were 9-1 before before Kerr was at the crease and eventually bought up her first international T20 century.


She was out with three balls remaining in the innings.


Opener Georgia Plimmer was the White Ferns' next highest scorer with 27 off 26 balls while Brooke Halliday made 26. No other player reached double figures.


South Africa split the wickets between Ayabonga Khaka and Tumi Sekhukhune who took three each.


In reply, the visitors were also 9-1 in the second over as Lea Tahuhu struck to dismiss Chloe Tryon for one.


South Africa were then 41-4 after the six overs of powerplay and ended on 102-9.


The South African batting line-up struggled to make double figures as five New Zealand bowlers took wickets.


Tahuhu was the best of the White Ferns bowlers with 3-15 off her four overs while Amelia Kerr took 2-6 from three overs as well as a catch too.


Sophie Devine had 2-8 from two overs.


New Zealand won the T20 series 4-1. The two teams now move on to a three match one-day series beginning on Sunday in Christchurc
