Auckland pole vaulter Imogen Ayris has scored a personal best a World Athletics category B indoor meet at Caen la Mer in northern France


Ayris, 25 posted a best effort of 4.70m, bettering her previous best of 4.67m set nearly a year ago.

She finished second on countback, with Frenchwoman Marie-Julie Bonnin winning the title by virtue of making fewer attempts at the earlier heights.


Ayris who qualified for the world indoors championships with her performance wasn't the only New Zealander to medal.


Twenthy-six-year-old Olivia McTaggart finished third with a best vault of 4.60m.
