New Zealand’s Paul Coll has been beaten for the title at the Tournament of Champions in New York by rival and world No 1 Mostafa Asal of Egypt.
Asal was impressive from the outset, grinding Coll down over 24 minutes in the opening game to take an 11-6 win.
LATEST HEADLINES:
Coll struggled to find any momentum in the second as Asal found his rhythm and showcased his class, hitting a barrage of winners to dominate the scoreline 11-1.
It was more of the same in the final game, Asal writing his name in the history books at Grand Central Terminal, growing a commanding lead and playing his trademark precision squash to win 11-4.
It was the first time either of the players had reached the final of the platinum level tournament.
The 11-6, 11-1, 11-4 victory 58 minutes is the fourth consecutive win for Asal over Coll replicating the scoreline from their last meeting in the final at the Comcast Business U.S. Open 2025.
Asal now has a 15-7 lead in head-to-heads between the pair.
Coll will next be in action at the Windy City Open in Chicago, starting February 5th.
