Otago Volts, A sides warm up for cricket season

The Otago Volts and Otago A sides will travel to Wellington and Rangiora, respectively, this week to contest a series of matches across multiple formats as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
The Volts will focus on the white-ball formats against a strong Wellington Firebirds outfit at the Cello Basin Reserve. The travelling squad features a balanced mix of youth and experience.
LATEST HEADLINES:
Emerging talents wicket keeper Nick Brown and batsman Tom Jones have been named in the Volts squad for the first time. Both players will be given the chance to press their claims for selection in the starting lineup for the upcoming competition games. The side
will be captained by Luke Georgeson.
Otago A will travel to Rangiora on Thursday to meet Canterbury Country in a three-day fixture, followed by two one-day matches against Canterbury A, next Tuesday and Wednesday. All matches will be played at Mainpower Oval, Rangiora.
The differing formats and extended playing schedule will provide all players with valuable opportunities to perform and stake their claims for higher honors throughout the season. The Otago A squad will also see the inclusion of Thomas O’Connor and Joshua Olliver
for the shorter-format fixtures.
