New Zealand driver Liam Lawson was once again frustrated with his Racing Bulls car not having the power he wanted, this time in qualifying at Formula One's Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.


Lawson qualified 11th missing the top 10 by 0.209 seconds.

He admitted the result was particularly frustrating after feeling comfortable with the car during final practice earlier on Saturday.


“It’s pretty annoying. We actually were quite comfortable in practice this morning, so I don’t really know where we’ve lost so much pace,” Lawson said.


“It’s frustrating. The car has been quite competitive this weekend. I don’t know if it’s the temperatures or what, but we struggled more with tyres in this session.


“We obviously will try and move forward in the race tomorrow.”


Red Bull's Max Verstappen has claimed his first pole position of the season at with Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton joining him on the front row.


Verstappen's teammate, Isack Hadjar, was third fastest, but will start eighth due to a grid penalty, with championship leader Kimi Antonelli in third, alongside Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
