Less than a fortnight after a heartbreaking Bathurst 1000 where De Pasquale ran out of fuel while leading on the last lap, De Pasquale took provisional pole for Saturday’s 250-kilometre race on the streets of Surfers Paradise.
The 31-year old will be the last car out for the Top Ten Shootout, with a chance to take his second pole of 2026.
Gold Coaster Broc Feeney was second fastest in qualifying, with Payne and Heimgarter third and fourth. The top four were separated by 0.08 of a second.
Supercars Finalists Brodie Kostecki and Jack Le Brocq were surprise omissions from the Shootout, Kostecki earning a kerb strike on his last two flying laps, nullifying his fast laps.
Le Brocq struggled for pace in qualifying and will start 17th for tomorrow’s race.
