New Zealand's Ryan Fox picked up one shot on the completion of his second round and then his full third round at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson PGA tournament in Texas.


However Fox at six-under is a long way back from leader Scheffler who is the runaway leader at 23-under.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Looking for his first title in 2025 Schefller improved five shots in his third round. He birdied the second, third, fifth, ninth as well as 13th, 14th and 18th holes with bogeys on the fourth and 11th.


Scheffler is eight shots ahead of his nearest rival Erik Van Rooyen of South Africa going into the final round.


Fox is down the order tied 52nd after he carded a second round 71 to be five-under and then returned for the third round as the tournament tried to recover from earlier bad weather.


In the third round Fox started on the back nine and boged the 12th and 13th holes, but then birdied the 16th, 17th and 18th holes.


There were bogeys on the fourth and fifth holes efore he finished the round with a birdie.
