New Zealand swimmer Erika Fairweather has claimed a third medal at the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships in California.


Fairweather took bronze in the 800m freestyle with a time of 8:18.81, with two of the greats of the sport, Australia's Lani Pallister beating world record holder Katie Ledecky from the United States. .

Pallister swam a championship record 8:06.10, just beating the fast-finishing Ledecky, who recorded 8:07.26.


The bronze was Fairweather's third of the meet. She also finished third in the 400m and 200m freestyleraces.


Fellow New Zealander Lewis Clareburt finished seventh in the 200m individual medley with a time of 1:58.12, over a second and half slower than his silver medal time in the same event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.


Lauren Boyle is the only other New Zealand swimmer to claim three medals at a Pan Pacific Champs - she took away two silver and a bronze in 2014.
