On 'Moving Day' at The Open Championship, New Zealand golfer Daniel Hillier was one of the biggest risers.

Hillier climbed more than 30 places into the top-20 after a three-under 68 in the third round of golf's final major of the year at Royal Troon in Scotland on Saturday (Sunday NZ Time).

After making the cut for the first time in his fourth major appearance, Hillier produced four birdies and a bogey to move up to tied for 20th at two-over, still 10 strokes behind the leader midway through the round.

The 25-year-old, who will represent New Zealand at the Paris Olympics later this month, started his round with birdies at the par-four second and par-five sixth holes.

He put his approach shot at the second to within five feet for a short birdie putt, then rolled in a 12-foot birdie putt at the seventh.

After a bogey at the par-four 12th, Hillier finished with two birdies in his last three holes. He made an 11-foot putt on the par-five 16th and put his second shot on the par-four closing hole to within six feet.

It was the opposite for fellow Kiwi Ryan Fox, who dropped more than 30 places with a birdie-free five-over 76 on Saturday (Sunday NZT).

Fox, who is also heading to Paris after The Open, had three bogeys and a double-bogey to fall into a share of 70th at nine-over.

The 36-year-old missed a five-foot putt for par on the par-four second, then dropped two shots at the par-five sixth after finding bunkers with his tee and third shots, only able to punch out of the sand.

With his tee shots finding the native areas, Fox made bogeys at the par-four 13th and 15th holes.
