New Zealand have secured second place in their group behind South Africa after an eight wicket win over Canada with 29 balls to spare in Chennai.


Canada played well in their inning of 173-4, but weren't quite able to post a challenging score for the Daryl Mitchell captained Black Caps side who made 176-2 in the 16th over.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Canadian opener Yuraj Samra scored 110 from 65 balls with 11 fours and six sixes but latck up with onlky fellow opening and captian Dilpreet Bajway going past double figures with 36 runs.


Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson and James Neesham all took a wicket each while Cole McConchie bowled three overs for side as the full replacement for the injury Michael Bracewell.


At bat the Black stuttered with Tim Seifert out for six from 10 balls and Finn Allen 21 from eight balls who was with the score at 30.


Rachin Ravindra was joined by Glenn Phillips and together the two of them took to the Canadian bowlers.


Phillips ended on 76 not out from 36 balls featuring four fours and six sixws while Ravindra made 59 not out from 39 including four fours and three sixes.
