Kiwi golfer Nick Voke put in a late charge but couldn't stop Spaniard David Puig at the Australian PGA Championship at the Royal Queensland in Brisbane.


A New Zealand hasn’t won the event since Greg Turner in 1999 and Voke finished three shots behind the winner and one from second placed Wenyi Ding of China.

Voke, 31 capped off an impressive tournament at 15-under, currently tied for third, after posting three straight 5-under rounds to finish 71-66-66-66.


His final round featured birdies at two, seven, 12, 15 and the 15th holes. For his best finish on the DP World Tour since being tied eighth at the same event last year.


Daniel Hillier was a shot further back at 14-under and tied fifth after a three-under final round.


Josh Geary was nine-under in 19th while after being in title contention Kazuma Kobori had a final round shocker with a five-over round to finish tied 25th at eight-under


Ryan Fox carded a three-under par 68 in the final round to finish at six-under overall - well behind the leading contenders.


Tyler Wood was back in 66th at one-under
