The second day of the Paris Olympics men's golf tournament was not a happy one for New Zealanders Ryan Fox and Daniel Hillier.
Fox tumbled 20 spots down the leaderboard with a two-over 73 in the second round at Le Golf National on Friday (Saturday NZ Time) to be tied for 30th at two-under, nine strokes back of the lead.

It was a similar story for Wellington's Daniel Hillier, who improved with a two-over 73 but remained near the bottom of the leaderboard.
Fox began the tournament in fine fashion with a four-under 67, but on Friday, Fox struggled on the outward nine, carding two bogeys at the par-five third and par-three eighth and a double-bogey on the par-five ninth.
To his credit, the 37-year-old Aucklander regrouped on the homeward nine, with birdies at the par-four 10th and par-three 16th.
After battling to an opening day 75 in his Olympic debut, Hillier, 25, shot an extraordinary 73, which included an eagle, four birdies, two bogeys and three double-bogeys.
The result has Hillier at six-over and in 59th in the 60-player field.
Hillier will tee off his third round on Saturday at 7pm NZT, while Fox, looking for a superb round to get back into medal contention, will go off at 8.44pm NZT.
