New Zealand Warriors halfback Te Maire Martin has locked in another year on his contract to extend his stay at the club until the end of the 2027 NRL season.
The 30-year-old’s new deal follows the one-year extension he signed last year for the 2026 campaign.
LATEST HEADLINES:
After a delayed start to this season following a broken leg, Martin has been at halfback for the Warriors’ last six matches, replacing Tanah Boyd whose season was ended by an ACL knee injury early in the Magic Round clash against the Broncos in May.
“We’re delighted to have Te Maire with us for another season,” said One New Zealand Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden.
“Ever since he joined us in 2023, he has been a key contributor through not just his ability as a player but the example he sets with his attitude and passion for the game and also his determination to come back from adversity.”
In his six appearances so far this season Martin has scored four tries, provided seven try assists, made five line breaks and 19 tackle breaks while averaging 91 metres and 23 tackles a game.
“I’ve got so much confidence in and respect for Te Maire. He’s such a team-first player,” said One New Zealand Warriors head coach Andrew Webstedr.
“He had a late start to the season after breaking his leg but when we lost Tanah he stepped in seamlessly at halfback. No matter what is asked of him he’s always happy to help. He’s a true footy player just loves the game.”
Martin overcame numerous setbacks to post his 100th NRL career appearance last year and is poised to play his 50th game for the One New Zealand Warriors in their round 20 match against the Dragons at Go Media Stadium on July 18.
