Former Crusaders halfback Brynn Hall is set toend four seasons away from Super Rugby Pacific after signing with champion side, the Hurricanes.

Hall, who will be 35 when next season kicks off, was part of six championship-winning Crusaders squads from 2017 to 2022 before leaving for time at two Japanese clubs - Shizuoka Blue Revs and Kubota Spears.

He rejoined North Harbour this season and has surpassed 100 games. He has helped to steer them to the top of the standings with one round to play in the regular season.

Hall is likely to play a backup role to first-choice Hurricanes No.9 and All Black Cam Roigard, who was a central figure in their charge to this year's title.

Roigard's primary backup was Ere Enari, who has left the Hurricanes after signing with Welsh club Dragons.

"I'm really excited to get down to Wellington to join the Hurricanes next season," said Hall who is former Māori All Black.

"I loved the way the club played this year with their attacking brand of footy. I can't wait to be part of that and look forward to contributing in whatever way I can."

Hall has played 123 Super Rugby matches, which included a four-season stint at the Blues earlier in his career.

A former New Zealand under-20 captain, he received a call-up to the wider All Blacks squad in 2018 but didn't win a test cap.

Hurricanes coach Clark Laidlaw revealed the Hurricanes had considered signing Hall two seasons ago.

"For him to join us now to compete for a starting role and provide that experience to our younger halfbacks will really add to the squad," Laidlaw said.

"Everybody can see how well he has played for an outstanding North Harbour side. His kicking and distribution and all-round game has been super solid in the NPC."
