Routliffe seeded ninth to defend US Open doubles

New Zealand's Erin Routliffe and Indonesia's Aldila Sutjiati are the ninth seeds in the women's doubles at the US Open in New York.

Routliffe and Sutjiadi recently won at the WTA tournament in Washington - a 13th career title for the kiwi.

Currently ranked 14th in the world Routliffe and her partner ranked 28th face Dane, Clara Tauson and American Ann Li in the first round in New York.,

If they win their first round they could play the combination of Leylah Fernandez (Canada) and Indonesia's Janice Tien in the second round

Rouliffe is a two-time winner in New York, 2023 and last year, both with Canadian Gaby Dabrowski.

Tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams have a wildcard in the doubles. They play Australia Maya Joint and Hao Chan-Chang from Chinese Taipei in the first round.

The men's doubles draw with Michael Venus has yet to be released.
