The Breakers have begun their preseason campaign by winning the 2025 NBL Blitz tournament in Canberra

.

In their second match they dominated a weakened Cairns Taipans 94 to 75 controlling every quarter.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Returning Breaker Reuben Te Rangi top-scored with 20 points in their final Blitz matchup to go with 6 rebounds, while Sam Mennenga scored 18 points, Sean Bairstow 12 and Izayah Le'afa 11 along with 7 assists.


New import Izaiah Brockington was named Tournament MVP.


In their opening game the beat the South East Melbourne Phoenix 109-101

The NBL Blitz employs a unique scoring system that rewards both winning and quarter-by-quarter performance, with teams earning 3 points for a game win, 1 point for each quarter won, and 0.5 points for a drawn quarter.


This system emphasises consistency and a high level of play throughout the entire game, and the BNZ Breakers' ability to accumulate 13 points across all metrics was key to their success.


The Breakers now play two games in Japan before returning to New Zealand and the start fo the ANBL.
