New Zealand's Liam Lawson has finished ninth after starting 12th on the grid at the Qatar Grand Prix
After qualifying 12th on a track designed primarily for MotoGP – with limited overtaking for F1 Lawson remained patient in making up three places to take points for the sevneth time in the season.

Lawson is 14th on the driver standings with 38 points, five ahead of Tsunoda who finished 10th in Qatar.
Lawson was positive about the race after initially struggling on the circuit.
“From where we started, it’s positive,” said Lawson. “We had really good race pace when we were in clean air – we just spent the whole race in traffic. That’s what you get around here.
Meanwhile Max Verstappen won the race to take the Formula One title battle with McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to a season-ending showdown in Abu Dhabi next weekend.
Norris was fourth, behind the Williams of Spaniard Carlos Sainz, with his lead slashed to 12 points as Verstappen's third win in a row in Qatar moved him up to second in the standings.
Australian Piastri finished second, after starting on pole position and winning the Saturday sprint, and dropped to third overall and four points behind four-times world champion Verstappen.
The top three drivers now each have seven wins for the season.
