Lydia Ko chases LPGA season-ending title

Lydia Ko plays the season-end LPGA Tour tournament while numerous Kiwi men play the Australian PGA Championship

A busy weekend for New Zealand golfers in the United States, as Lydia Ko gets ready for the LPGA Tour season-end tournament and several contest the Australian PGA Championship.


Ko, 27, has qualified third for the season-end championship at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, which is set to pay out the richest prize in women's golf of US$11 million, with US$4 million to the winner.


LATEST HEADLINES:


In 2024, Ko won four titles, including the Paris Olympics gold and also her third career major at The Women's Open.


Meanwhile, at the Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane, the Australian PGA Championship is being played as part of the DP World Tour.


The list of Kiwi players is long, with a good result helping any future plans on the European tour.


The following New Zealanders are starting the tournament; Denzel Ieremia, Josh Geary, Daniel Hillier, Nick Voke, Kazuma Kobori, Tyler Wood, Kerry Mountcastle and Sam Jones.


Aside from the New Zealanders, there are plenty of big names in the form of Australians Cam Smith, Min Woo Lee, Jason Day and Marc Leishman.
