England dish out punishment to Black Caps

After a no result in game one, the English cricket team were too strong in the second T20 at Hagley Oval winning by 65 runs.


Batting first England carted the Black Caps bowlers around the partk to score 236-4 in their 20 overs.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Kyle Jamieson took 2-47 from his four overs while Jacob Duffy and Michael Bracewell took one each as Phil Salt opened for England and smashed 85 from 56 balls.


Captain Harry Brook hit 78 from 35 including six fours and five sixes. Jacob Bethell and Tom Banton made 24 and 29 respectively.


At bat the Black Caps started badly and didn't really do much else.


Tim Robinson and Rachin Ravindra were gone quickly without reaching double figures as Tim Seifert and Mark Chapman managed to bring up a 50 partnership before the latter holed out going for a big shot for 28 from 24.


Seifert continued to 39 from 29 with four fours and two sixes.


Daryl Mitchell went for nine, Bracewell two before Jimmy Neesham made 17 and captain Mitch Santner blasted 36 from 15 balls including three fours and three sixes.


The remainder of the side was out cheaply as Black Caps were dismissed for 171 in the 18th over.


For England spin bowler Adil Tashid took 4-32 while Liam Dawson, Luke Wood and Brydon Carse all took two wickets.


The third T20 is at Eden Park Thursday 23 October.
