The Black Sticks Men have won their second straight match at the FIH Nations Cup in Poland with another big scoreline.

The 10th-ranked New Zealanders got two goals from Jonty Elmes and another from Joe Morrison to defeat world No 19 Austria 3-0 at the Gniezno Hockey Stadium in Gniezno, Poland on Saturday (Sunday NZ Time).

A dominance of possession told for the Black Sticks, who controlled the early stages and deserved to go a goal ahead when through Jonty Elmes after Isaac Houlbrooke squared an easy ball to put away.

A scoreless second quarter preceded New Zealand's best period, when they scored two goals in the space of 90 seconds.

Elmes got his second in almost a carbon copy of his first, this time from a Hugo Inglis assist to give the teenage striker his sixth goal in eight appearances for his country.

Shortly afterwards, Joe Morrison scored his first international goal as the New Zealanders moved closer to a place in the semifinals.

The Black Sticks Men next face world No 14 South Africa on Monday (4am Tuesday NZT), while the world No 11 Black Sticks Women open their Nations Cup campaign on Monday (8.30pm NZT) against 15th-ranked Chile.

Meanwhile, the Black Sticks women begin their respective Nations Cup tournament campaign when they face Chile in Terrassa, Spain, on Monday night.
