England have fought back on day two of the third test against the Black Caps, reaching 223 for 2 at stumps to trail by 215 runs at Trent Bridge.


Earlier the Black Caps lost their last six wickets for 77 runs to be dismissed for 438.


LATEST HEADLINES:


The New Zealand innings starting the day at 361-4 but only Tom Blundell's 30 and Will O'Rourke making 19 - his highest first class score, plus Daryl Mitchell 11 added any substance to the overnight score.


Mitch Santner went for four, Nathan Smith six and Ben Sears left on nought not out.


O'Rourke took 1-39 from his 11 overs and Smith 1-59 from, 12 overs as Ben Duckett opened and scored 113 having been dropped at slip by Henry Nicholls on eight.


At the crease are Jacob Bethell on 74 not out and Joe Root 21.


Blair Tickner is out of the test with concussion after being struck on the helmet while batting, and has been replaced by fellow New Zealand pace bowler Zak Foulkes.
