Black Caps capitulate to Afghanistan

The Black Caps have been well and truly beaten by Afghanistan in their opening match of hte T20 World Cup in Guyana.


They lost by 84 runs after captain Kane Williamson had won the toss and put the Afghanistan team in to bat.


LATEST HEADLINES:


in the first few overs of being in the field the New Zealand side missed a stumping, missed a run out, two dropped catches and a missed lbw decision.


Eventually the Afghanistan side made 159-6, left-armer Trent Boult finishing 2-22 from his four overs while Matt Henry also took two wickets, Lockie Ferguson took the other and there was a run out.


Chasing 160 to win, the New Zealand side lost Finn Allen to the first ball of their innings and lost wickets regularly after that.


The Black Caps were all out for 75, Glenn Phillips top scoring with 18.


The only other New Zealand batter to make double figures was Matt Henry with 12 in a sad day for the Black Caps.


The next game for the side is against the West Indies on Thursday.
