The White Ferns have started their T20 series against South Africa where they left off against Zimbabwe - with an easy win.


The Black Caps looked out of sort in their easy loss to South Africa in the double-header at Mt Maunganui.

Amelia Kerr dominated the White Ferns total of 190-7 as batted early afte rthe fall of Izzy Gaze for no score when there was just one run on the board.


Kerr and Georgia Plimmer then put on 145 runs together before Kerr went for 78 from 44 balls featuring 11 fours and two sixes.


Plimmer managed 63 runs also from 44 balls with five fours and three sixes.


The damage had been done and the rest of the innings say Brooke Halliday score 13, Sophie Devine 12 and Maddy Green 10 as the main contributors.


South Africa batted to a total of 110-7 in their 20 overs to give the home side an 80 run win as Tzmin Brits top-scored with 29 runs.


Sophie Devine took 4-24 from her four overs while Jess Kerr had 2-13. There was one run out thanks to Rosemary Mair.


Meanwhile the Black Caps bagtted first and made just 91 runs in 14.3 overs.


The three best scores - James Neesham 26, Mittch Santner and Cole McConchie both with 15 were all at the T20 World Cup.


The remainder of the side struggled. Devon Conway out for one, Tom Latham seven, Tim Robinson six, Nick Kelly two, Bevon Jacobs hit a six and then went out for 10.


Zak Foulkes was out for one and Kyle Jamieson two leaving Ben Sears not out on no score.


The South African bowlers shared the wickets around but it was mqobani Mokoena who took 3-26 - all three the best batters in a row.


South Africa cleaned up the New Zealand total in 16.4 overs scoring 93-3 for a seven wicket win with 20 balls to spare as Santner took 1-8 from his four overs in an otherwise limp display from the Black Caps.


The second match of the series is another double-header at Hamilton on Tuesday.
