A couple of New Zealand doubles pairings have had success in the United States this week.


Erin Routliffe and Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko are into the semifinals of the WTA's Charleston Open after scoring a 2-6 6-3 10-2 victory over Viktoriya Tomova from Bulgaria and America’s Katie Volynets in the first round.

In the quarters, they then defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova from Russia and China’s Zhang Shuai 7-5 6-3 on the green clay surface.


At the ATP Challenger event at Morelos, Mexico, the Kiwi combination of Finn Reynolds and James Watt have defeated Americans George Goldhoff and Trey Hilderbrand in the first round.


The 7-6(11) 6-4 win over the second seeds at the US$100,000 tournament will give the New Zealand duo 16 ATP doubles ranking points.


In the semifinals, Reynolds and Watts face Ray Ho (Chiese Taipei) and Govind Nanda (United States).


At the US$125 WTA tournament in Antalya, Turkey, Paige Hourigan and Rutuja Bhosale, from India, are still awaiting the start of their first round doubles match.
