Paul Coll beaten in World Champs quarterfinals

New Zealand's world squash No 2 Paul Coll has been defeated by seventh seed Youssef Ibrahim of Egypt in the quarterfinals of the PSA World Championships.
It's the fourth straight for Ibrahim over 34-year-old Coll including the El Gouna tournament last month, also in the last eight and puts him into the semifinals at the Golf Central Palm Hills.

Ibrahim, playing through a shoulder injury which has plagued the entirety of his 2025-26 season, delivered yet another incredible attacking performance to down the Kiwi No.1 by a 3-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-8 scoreline.
Disaster almost struck for the Egyptian in the fourth as he collided into the back of Coll when chasing down a drop shot with three match balls to his name.
After physio treatment, Ibrahim returned to court and closed out the match in style, thumping a forehand straight into the nick to the delight of the packed-out home crowd
Earlier in 2026 Coll won both the Australian Open and New Zealand Open and Squash in the Land title in the United States but was a beaten finalist at the Windy City Open.
