Paddon pushing hard at WRC Rally del Paraguay

New Zealand rally driver Hayden Paddon is second after the opening day of the World Rally Championship round in Paraguay.
After the initial eight stages Paddon and co-drive John Kennard gained an unexpected win for his Hyundai team on a challenging stage three.

He then held the lead for the first time at a WRC event since he led Rally de Portugal in 2018 - which was also the last time he contested a gravel-based round.
Thirty-nine-year-old Paddon is 11.9 seconds behind Finnish leader Sami Pajari, who is second overall on the WRC standings and has won the last two rounds in Estonia and Finland.
Fellow-Toyota driver and championship leader Elfyn Evans is the third, the Briton 44.4sec behind Paddon after striking multiple technical problems.
