Several New Zealand golfers are keeping up with one of the world's best on day one of the NSW Open.
LIV golfer and 2022 US Open champion Cameron Smith carded an opening round seven-under 64 to lead by one at the close of play at the Murray Down Golf and Country Club on Thursday.

Playing partner Lucas Herbert finished at six-under 65 to grab a share of second to headline a pack of players chasing Smith.
Tied with Herbert for second at six-under is fellow Victorians Andrew Martin and Nathan Page, along with Queenslander Chris Wood.
Masterton's Kerry Montcastle is in the next pack of chasing players at five-under 66. The 29-year-old had birdies on the fifth, eighth, ninth and 16th holes.
Josh Geary is tied for 13th at three-under, while Tyler Wood and Denzel Ieremia are all tied 30th at one-under. The other New Zealander in the in the field, Harry Hillier, is at even-par.
